Hitachi DZ-BX35A DVD Camcorder with 25x Optical Zoom

I got this camcorder a few years ago and have never had a problem...in fact, I'm quite surprised at all the negative reviews and bad experiences.





Maybe I'm just naive, as this was my first and only DVD camcorder so far. I'm not sure about all the features on other products, but I've gotten so used to this camera that it has never been a problem (however, after reading these reviews, I'm knocking on wood!).





True, the DVD recording time is not long. True, you have to finalize discs before you take them out. True, you can only finalize through an AC outlet. But for the most part, this camera has served my needs. I guess if you are looking for something more elaborate, you can get something else. Panasonic SV-AV50S 2MP MPEG-4 Camcorder w/2.5x Digital Zoom

I regret buying this camera because I cannot view the videos I shot. If you buy a Sony digital camera it shoots video in MPEG4 format and that can be viewed by several programs such as Real Player, Windows Movie Maker, QuickTime, etc. This Panasonic camcorder claims to shoot MPEG, but it does not.





The video files are something called ASF and I cannot find a program to view the videos or to convert them to real MPEGS. Going to the Panasonic site is a complete waste of time because they expect you to have a serial number just to download the program to view the videos in their non standard format.

Samsung SC-DX103 DVD Camcorder

I received this camera as a gift. I have had all of the disc error issues everyone else has mentioned. I offered to videotape a friend's wedding and received a disc error right before the "I Do's" and lost the entire thing. I've tried the recommended brand of DVD's and even other brands, just to have precious memories either lost or forever stuck on DVD's unplayable anywhere except for on the camcorder. Great little camera for what I use it for. It's easy to use and switch between the media types. The CD's make it easy to record and pop right into a DVD player.
