it doesn't have a USB port, but, once you finish the disc you can


get your recorders into your computer and make your own movies.

I had the same problem as Bonnie; exchanged the first camcorder only to have the exact problem with the second. The biggest problem is that I trusted the thing & recorded 4 DVD's that I am unable to "finalize" due to disc error (didn't matter if they were rw or r). My local store where I bought it from also addressed this with Samsung customer service, who said that they have not had any other reports of this problem (hmmmmm) so it could be user error. Not too tough to pop in a DVD shoot film, then power on to read "disc error" so not sure how both myself & the salesman are so stupid. Sorry for my kids to not have their State wrestling tourney on DVD & the parents who couldn't make it & counted on me recording their kids as well. We were pleased with this item although I warn you that the only actual Sony brand product is the case. Everything else is generic but it does the job just fine. I recommend this as a back up to your current sony product. The tripod works great and the extra battery is a good back up to your Sony brand battery. I've enjoyed my camera. It's very easy to use. What I love about it was the accessory kit that came with it with the exception of the mini tri-pod. It broke as soon as we took it out of the box. The carrying case is great and can hold the accessories that come with it. It was nice to not have to go out and buy an extra battery and figure out what DVDs to buy for it. The 8GB memory stick was a nice bonus as well as the battery charger that plugs directly into the wall outlet. My sister-in-law got the same camera for Christmas, but without the kit. Her carrying case was a lot smaller and she was trying to use it but didn't have the right DVDs or the memory stick or extra battery. This is my 4th cam corder all my previous camcoders were CANON and never had any problems. This is my first cam corder from SONY. I am really disppointed. Sony offers only 90 day warranty. This is a friend of mine's new camera. He is not real computer literate. So he asked me to get the video out of it so he could show some of it on YouTube and the like. And with my Mac I had done this several other times with other video cameras. But this camera is horrible with a Mac. I downloaded the manual and it does not help either. I Googled the internet and saw ALL the steps to do it. And I am getting it done now but it takes FOREVER and FOREVER.... I will not do do it with this camera again.





This is the ONLY info I have on this camera, since I did NOT shoot with it. The downloaded manual did not help me at all and to use with a Mac is ridiculous!

Actually, it probably is outdated. The DVD format is not the most efficient way to go. But the quality of the shots I've gotten with this camera are awesome for the price I paid. I'm willing at this point to get the quality and do a little extra work in the post-production phase to convert the video.





It took a bit a bit to figure out the best way to get the video, in either SD or HD format off the disks and onto our editing machine. We used Any Video Converter (Free) to convert the files to a more editable format.





The quality of the camera when used with proper lighting is amazing for a single CMOS camera. It does have issues with poor lighting. It will become grainy, especially when working under red lights (like what we had in our haunted house).





The limited time that can be captured (especially under HD) per disk can be a problem if you just want to shoot all day long and not worry about changing disks. If you want to make webisodes/independent movies its not really that big of a problem if you manage disk space adequately and use DL disks.





There are also plenty of 37mm lenses that can screw onto the front of this thing but once it is attached BE CAREFUL. Its not a solid mounting system like you'd get with a prosumer/professional camera and I could image a good wack on the lens breaking the camera threads, lens and camera housing quite easily.





The two biggest things that I don't like are the lack of any support on Canon's website. I would have liked to have seen a firmware update available by now that would make increase the battery life, add additional presets, or improve focus detection. Not that any of those things are terrible now, but firmware updates can always make those things better.





The other problem that I have with the camera is that to capture pictures you'll need to buy a miniSD card. Not SD, SDHC, or even microSD...but miniSD. A dead format for cards. So if you buy this camera don't think that the plethora of SD cards you have laying around will cover you. You'll need to buy a miniSD card or two from Amazon at the same time.

I got this camcorder a few years ago and have never had a problem...in fact, I'm quite surprised at all the negative reviews and bad experiences.





Maybe I'm just naive, as this was my first and only DVD camcorder so far. I'm not sure about all the features on other products, but I've gotten so used to this camera that it has never been a problem (however, after reading these reviews, I'm knocking on wood!).





True, the DVD recording time is not long. True, you have to finalize discs before you take them out. True, you can only finalize through an AC outlet. But for the most part, this camera has served my needs. I guess if you are looking for something more elaborate, you can get something else. Panasonic SV-AV50S 2MP MPEG-4 Camcorder w/2.5x Digital Zoom

I regret buying this camera because I cannot view the videos I shot. If you buy a Sony digital camera it shoots video in MPEG4 format and that can be viewed by several programs such as Real Player, Windows Movie Maker, QuickTime, etc. This Panasonic camcorder claims to shoot MPEG, but it does not.





The video files are something called ASF and I cannot find a program to view the videos or to convert them to real MPEGS. Going to the Panasonic site is a complete waste of time because they expect you to have a serial number just to download the program to view the videos in their non standard format.

Samsung SC-DX103 DVD Camcorder

I received this camera as a gift. I have had all of the disc error issues everyone else has mentioned. I offered to videotape a friend's wedding and received a disc error right before the "I Do's" and lost the entire thing. I've tried the recommended brand of DVD's and even other brands, just to have precious memories either lost or forever stuck on DVD's unplayable anywhere except for on the camcorder.
